Using Panopto in Blackboard

Panopto is a video platform designed specifically for education and is fully integrated with Blackboard Learn Ultra allowing students and lecturers to record, submit and embed video and audio within a module.

Each module has a Panopto course folder, everyone with access to your course will automatically have access this folder. It is good practice to upload or record your module videos into this folder. If you set up a video assignment, student videos will be saved this folder as well.

 

Accessing your Panopto course folder

To access your Panopto course folder from within a module, select the Books and Tools link in the Details & Actions menu.

Click Panopto video course folder embed. This will bring up the Panopto Course folder.

This will open up the module’s Panopto course folder which will contain all videos associated with the module.

Adding videos to your Panopto Course folder

Open your Panopto course folder in Books & Course tools. You can add new videos in a number of ways, upload existing video, record new video or copy video across from another Panopto folder.

Uploading a video

To upload a video, either drag it onto the Panopto course folder

or use the + Create button.

and select Upload media to navigate to your file.

Recording a video

In your Panopto course folder Click on + Create and select Panopto Capture then follow the Record a video instructions

Copying a video into your course folder

If you want to copy videos from other modules, you need navigate to the source Panopto video folder, and you must have Instructor access to that folder.

 

In your Panopto course folder, click on the folder name to locate the source folder.

If may come up automatically in the dropdown menu or you may need to type in the name of the folder

Select the source module from the dropdown menu

Select the video and the copy icon.

Select your destination module, then Copy.
