Progress tracking
Student progress tracking is an easy way for your students to keep track of what they have done in your course. It is recommended that you do not rely on this as a measurement of student participation. It is for your students to keep track of what content they have already accessed in the course.
Progress tracking is a good indicator of whether students have initially clicked on the content item but it is not an accurate measurement of how much they have engaged with it.
Before a student has accessed content, the Progress icon is an empty circle:
After a student has accessed content, the Progress icon is a half-filled circle:
For items that are submitted, the Progress icon turns to a green checkmark to indicate that the item is completed. If the item does not have a submission option, such as an Ultra Document, students will have to mark the item as complete themselves.
 Instructions
To enable progress tracking in your module, go to the Details & Actions menu and click Turn on which appears under the Progress Tracking item.
In the panel that pops up, move the progress tracking slider to On (green) and click Save.
To see how it works, you can use your preview student to navigate through the content as your student would follow it.
Click Start Preview
In preview mode, you will see an indicator beside each content item to show whether it has been accessed or not.

Progress Tracking can help your students to keep track of what content they have already viewed. However, think carefully about which modules you enable it in, taking into consideration the digital capabilities of your student cohort.
