Adding a Panopto video to your Learning materials

Embed Panopto videos in your Ultra module as standalone items or as part of a document page.

Instructions

Adding a standalone Panopto video to the Course Content area

This option will embed the file as a standalone video in the Course Content area:

Roll your mouse over where you want to add the video, this will reveal a menu. Select Content Market

Then select Panopto video embed

This launches the Panopto’s course folder (use the drop down arrow to navigate to another folder). Select the radio button beside the video to be embedded and select Insert.

[NB Panopto defaults to the Choose tab, select the Upload tab to upload a video stored on your device or Record to record a video]

Selecting Insert embeds your video in the Course Content area:

Adding a Panopto video to a document page

Choose this option if you want to contextualise your video with text or links.

Go to where you want the document to sit, click on the plus and select Create.

Select Document from the Create Item menu.

This will open up your document, add a title and select Content to open the content editor.

If you want to add a video to an existing Document mouse over the dotted line and click on the plus and select Content

This opens up the content editor. Select the plus symbol in the toolbar to insert media content.

Select Content Market from the context menu.

This launches the list of Institution Tools, select Panopto video embed

It defaults to Panopto course folder (use the drop down arrow to navigate to another folder), select the radio button beside the video to be embedded and the Insert button.

Enter a name for the video and select Insert.

The video has been embedded in the content editor in the document. Click Save.

Panopto share settings

If your students are having problems viewing your video or you are trying to share a video that’s outside the Panopto course folder, you’ll need to alter your share settings.

Click on the diagonal arrow on your embedded video to open the online Panopto player.

Select the share icon to open the share settings.

Select Share in the menu. If your video is not in the course folder, you’ll need to ensure the author has set the Who can access this video to Anyone at your org can find and access

If you video is set to Only specific people and groups, you need to select change

and chose Your Organisation

This will change the settings of the embedded video.
