Creating a Video Assignments (using Panopto)
Because Panopto is integrated with Ultra, you can use Panopto Student Submission with your Blackboard assignment dropbox to assess video assignments.
To create a video Assignment, just create a Blackboard Assignment as normal and add the advice below for students on how to record and submit their videos.
Create your Blackboard assignment dropbox in the normal way:
In Course Content, click on the plus and select Create from the sub menu.
Then select Assignment from the right hand side panel.
Click on the title to name the coursework, then add your assignment brief plus the following instructions for students:
Submitting your assignment:
Click on the 'Submission' box below, then select the plus symbol in the toolbar, then choose Content Market. Then select Panopto Student Submission.
A tabbed window will open to show you three different options for adding your video. 'Choose', 'Upload' or 'Record'. Select your preferred method for adding your video.
Once your video has processed select Insert. Use the popup box to rename your file (if necessary) then click on Insert, then Submit. Your video will be added to the submission.
You will then be prompted to download your digital receipt.

Then click Save and adjust your assignment settings as normal.

Top Tips for successful Video submissions with Panopto
Familiarise yourself with the process submitting video to Blackboard assignment dropbox, so you can advise struggling students
File format; make sure your students use a recognised video format: .mp4, .m4a, .m4v, .3gp, .mov, .qt, .wmv, .wma, .webm, .mpg, .mpeg, .m2v, .flv, .avi see file formats for full list
Panopto does not accept PowerPoint presentations with embedded audio (.ppt). You need to export your Powerpoint file as an MP4.
Video files are larger than text and image files and if they are recorded on the latest phones will be even larger and may time out during upload to the assignment dropbox. So advise the students:
Make sure files are not too big, they should be less than 100MB per minute
If they are bigger than 2GB use compression software like Handbrake or Adobe Media Encoder
Ask students to change their record settings to SD/720 or 1080p/ HD with a frame rate of 25/30fps
Make sure they use robust connection (e.g. Edu-roam) not a mobile to upload the files

In the Content, click on the Assignment, then select Submissions:
Or, in the Gradebook, click on the Markable Items for the assignment:

2. From the student list, choose the student you want to mark:
The playback controls will appear on the video. You can enter your feedback and mark, then either go back to the student list or select another student to mark.
