Copying Panopto Videos in to Ultra
This support article shows how to copy/move Panopto videos in to Blackboard Ultra, whilst the initial focus is moving Panopto videos from Original Blackboard to Blackboard Ultra, the process is equally applicable to moving videos between Ultra modules.
Panopto is a commercial software application for managing video and is integrated with Blackboard at Ulster. There are extensive support guides on general Panopto use.
Instructions
Adding Panopto to Blackboard Ultra module
Whilst this step is not always essential, it is always a good idea to set Panopto up in your Ultra module before moving videos in to that area.
You can add the Panopto tool, via the left hand navigation in Blackboard Ultra under Details & Actions menu on the left-hand side.
Books & Tools gives you access to a number of third party systems integrated with Blackboard, and you will find Panopto Course Folder Embed listed as below.
Once you select the tool, the system will open and you will see a Panopto video folder.
Once the folder is set up you progress to the harder part of the workflow locating the source location of the videos.
If you have videos stored on your computer, you can of course upload those straight in to the Panopto course folder using the Create button → Upload Media without needing to copy them from elsewhere.
Locating Panopto Videos
Panopto videos can be embedded in multiple places but locating the source location is essential to copying or moving Panopto videos.
Most Panopto videos, in Blackboard, are embedded in the same way as below, the embedded video contains a link to the location of the video as highlighted below with a red square.
Copying Videos
Once selected, this link will open a new tab to the location of the video. From there you can select the folder that contains the video.
If you click on this link you will see all the videos within that folder and you can choose which you wish to copy. you can even select all if you wish. In then example below I have selected three videos to copy to my Ultra area, you can also see the copy icon.
Once you select Copy, the interface will ask for ther destination location. In the example below I have searched for SLS511 and you can see academic year 24/25 in the module title.
Once you select the Ultra module title and click Copy, your videos will be copied to the destination location.
Once your videos have finished copying, they will be available to embed within the content, further instructions are available at Adding a Panopto video to you module.
