Getting access to Blackboard modules in Module Manager

Staff need to request access to a module in Module manager before that module becomes available in Blackboard.

Who can request module access?

Who cannot request module access?

  • PhD students (with 'B00' codes)

An Instructor (Module Co-ordinator) must e-mail Blackboard Help Desk requesting module access on PhD student’s behalf quoting the module code and CRN number and their role (see table below).

The following table shows a breakdown of the available Module Manager roles and their level of access within an module.

The Module Access page then provides options for requesting access.

  1. Enter your module code in the Module code input box.

Whilst the academic year defaults to the current year, you can also select a previous academic year if you want access to prior versions of the module.

The page will automatically update to show you the versions of the module available in the academic year selected. Check the CRN of your module then select the access level you require from the dropdown menu and press Submit.

Check the CRN of the module. There may be several versions of the same module, each with a different CRN number, double check the start date and campus to make sure your selection is correct.

If you are unsure which level of access to request we recommend Instructor which gives you full editing rights and the ability to add or modify grades and feedback.

Remember to check Upcoming Courses for those courses starting the following semester.
