You can edit, move or duplicate questions by clicking on the three dots.
Once you’ve generated your questions and checked the answers, you’re ready to embed your quiz in your blackboard learning content.
Add your quiz to Blackboard.
Like Turnitin, Vevox is an add-on to Blackboard and you embed it into your Blackboard learning content in a similar way.
Within your content area, add a Vevox session using the Build Content drop-down menu. Select Vevox.
This opens up the Vevox tool in Blackboard, select the session name that contains the quiz that you want to include in the lesson e.g. BMS788-week1-quiz.
Then select whether you want participants to be Anonymous or Identified e.g. whether you want the participants’ marks sent to the grade centre.
Anonymous = Participants are fully anonymous therefore no grading information can be passed back to the VLE/LMS
Identified = Names will be hidden for other participants but the participants identity will be visible in the data reports and will pass back correct answer grading information to the VLE/LMS
As it’s live I chose Anonymous to encourage participation, then select the activity type (Live polling and Q/A), click Select.
4. Changing the name of the quiz in Blackboard
The Vevox activity link will appear in Blackboard. Change the name of the activity to something more intuitive by clicking on the arrow and selecting Edit from the drop-down menu
Click Submit.
5.Launching your quiz.
Click on the Vevox title in Blackboard to launch the activity.
This opens up the Vevox tool inside Blackboard, select Open in New tab.
This takes you through to the activity in the Vevox dashboard.
You need to open the session and the poll to give participants access to the quiz
Click on Open Poll.
Then use the bottom panel to set the timer if required e.g. to 10 sec
Once you are ready to run the poll in the class, click on Present Fullscreen
The Vevox screen will contain the question, QR code and Session ID for participants’ access. At the bottom of the question screen, there’s a controller which allows you to control playback of the quiz (If it is not visible, hover your mouse over the bottom of the screen).
To begin the quiz, start the timer by clicking the stopwatch, this counts down the time on the question (poll). When the timer has counted down, the poll closes and students can no longer enter answers for that question.
Click on the large tick to show the correct answer to the class.
This displays the percentage of students who selected each option, the correct answer and explanation.
Click on the central button to go to the next question, start the timer when you are ready, continue for all questions in the quiz.
Students’ participation
Students can participate by either scanning the QR code with their phones, entering “vevox.app” into the address bar of their browser and entering their Session ID or clicking the quiz link in Blackboard.
This takes the student into the question screen:
You’ll see the students’ selections come through into the Vevox dashboard:
At the end the leader board is displayed. The winner of the quiz with be notified on their screen.
