Automatic zeros: Un-submitted work counts as zero

Automatic zeros: Un-submitted work counts as zero

By default, Blackboard Ultra automatically gives unsubmitted, or work submitted after a due date, a mark of zero in the Gradebook. This can be a useful feature in some cases but also can cause anxiety amongst students particularly when it is first encountered.

Each module has a global setting which allows you to disable the feature and this may be something you wish to consider disabling when you commence a new module.

To disable automatic zeros, select Gradebook at the top of your module and then the cog icon available top right to access Gradebook settings.

When the gradebook settings open, scroll down to the Automatic Zeros section where you can disable the feature.

When you deslect the option Assign automatic zeros for overdue work you will be asked if you wish to keep, or clear, any previously assigned automatic zeros.

Typically we would recommend clearing existing automatic zeros.
