Analytics and Student Activity
The analytics tools in Ultra are useful for keeping an eye on student progress, providing useful insights on how students are interacting with your modules in Blackboard. It will help identify students who may be having difficulties as well as those who actively engaged.
Analytics

In Ulster there are 3 options available under Analytics:
- Course Activity
- Question Analysis
- SCORM Reports
Course Activity
The Course Activity report shows Overall Grade, Missed Due Dates, Hours in Course and Days since Last Access. This data allows you to see how your students are performing and how much they are interacting with the module.
You can sort the data by Student, Overall Grade, Hours in the course, and Days Since Last Access.
You can view data as a graph or as a list:
There is the option to set an alert that for students that fall below a certain performance threshold. Click on Alert Settings on the top right hand side:
The Alert Settings panel opens, here you can assign the performance threshold based on grade, missed due dates or day since last access. When students fall below this level they will have a flag appear against their name and you will be notified in your Activity Stream.
There are options to send students a message, or download the data.
Question Analysis
Question analysis is used for assessments with questions. It provides statistics on overall performance, assessment quality, and individual questions. Use this data to create questions that truly test students' knowledge.

Then click on the link activity name to view the data in the following format:
SCORM Reports

Student Activity and Participation tabs
Discussion boards, journals, SCORMS, tests and Blackboard assignment dropboxes have a Student Activity (or Participation) tab that allows instructors to track engagement with the activity. Instructors are able to see which students have participated in the activity and the length of that participation.
For instance, all discussion boards have a Student Activity tab. In ungraded discussions you are able to view the number of active students, average posts by students, average work count, students who have participated, responses with the most replies and top participants.
Graded discussions have an additional tab and more in-depth discussion analytics which allows you to better understand students' contribution to the discussion boards
Blackboard assignment’s Student Activity tab demonstrates how many students have submitted, how long it takes to submit and how long before they submit. Information like this can help you to identify whether communication about that assignment is effective and if the level of assessment is appropriate.
