Turnitin assignment dropbox settings
When you create your Turnitin dropbox there are a range of settings you can adjust. There are the standard settings: Max Grade, start Date, Due Date and Feedback Release date and there are Optional settings which allow you to adjust the treatment of submissions and similarity reports.

Standard settings
Input the assignment title, you could include the due date.
Input your instructions, you could specify any important details about the assignment and the fact that Turnitin only accepts a single file upload and you could also highlight the proposed feedback date. (750 characters max).
Set the Max grade, its usually recommended too mark out of 100.
The Start Date dictates when the students can see the assignment, it defaults to the time of set up.
Set the Due Date for the assignment specifying date and time. Bear in mind students can seek support within office hours.
Set the Feedback Release Date which dictates when Turnitin releases Marks and Feedback to students.

Submission settings
Adjust how the student submission is processed
Submit papers to: Decide whether to have papers submitted to repository, this is the default common setting. If it's a draft you may wish to choose ‘Do not store.’
Allow late submissions Decide whether you will allow late submissions, they will be flagged in red with a time and date stamp.
Enable anonymous marking You can enable anonymous marking (please speak to CDLE if you plan on using this option).
Attach a rubric You can also attach a rubric, you may need to build this in Turnitin first
Similarity Report
Adjust your Similarity Report settings as required.
Generate Similarity Report for student submission, chose:
- Generate reports immediately (students cannot resubmit)
- Generate reports immediately (students can resubmit until due date)
- Generate reports on due date (students can resubmit until due date)
Exclude … Decide on any exclusion options.
Compare against
You can choose the sources that students papers will be be compared against. All 3 are selected by default, and recommended.
Exclude assignment template Use this option if submissions use a standardised waiver or cover sheet within their submission
Additional settings Select the box if you would like to save those settings for future use.
Click on Submit to create your Turnitin Dropbox
Please note when adjusting settings in an existing Turnitin dropbox, they are in two locations:
the cog icon at the top right in the Turnitin interface (optional settings, feedback release date)
‘edit settings’ in the Blackboard Turnitin link (title, instructions, due date, feedback release date)
