Module information

Each Blackboard course will have information about your module such as contact information for your lecturers, module learning outcomes, timetable of classes and information about your assessments.

The majority of modules will have “Module Information” or “Course Resources” folders in the Content view, inside these you will find information about your course including your Module handbook.

Inside the Module information folder you should find a module handbook.

Module handbook

The module handbook will contain information about your lecturers, module learning outcomes, curriculum, timetable of classes and information about your assessments.

Click on your module information folder (it may be called course information or something similar) to expand the contents.

 

The handbook will either be embedded as a document or as downloadable file. The course above has it embedded in a document, click on the Handbook document.

 

This opens the handbook in a separate window, click on the down arrow to expand the document.

The handbook will contain contact info for your module co-ordinator.

Use the Blackboard Ultra Ally symbol Ally button to generate an accessible version,

the Blackboard Ultra download symbol download button to download the file,

and Blackboard Ultra close symbol to close the file

The module handbook also contains learning outcomes, your timetable and information about your assessment.

 

Timetable

Your module handbook will contain information about the organisation of your class learning activities under the Organisation and Management section.

The Calendar view of your Blackboard course will give you a schedule of online lectures and assignment due dates.

 

You’ll find a copy of your class timetable in the Ulster University Live Timetable (Publish) system. You will need to login with your SSO (Ulster email address and network password)

You can then view your timetable.

Clicking on Save Timetable allows you to Subscribe i.e. save your timetable to your personal calendar

Reading lists

The majority of courses offer a reading list, which includes a list of recommended reading for your course. This list is compiled by your lecturers and will consist of journal articles, books and websites that will enhance your learning. Your reading list should be listed to in your Module Resources folder in Convent view of your course.

 

You can also search for your reading list using your module code.

Go to Reading lists and enter your module code (e.g. BMS123), course name or CRN (e.g. 67123) in the search box.

Then click on your course name.

Check the course details are correct as there maybe more than one course with the same name. Use the campus and/or CRN (course reference number) to check it’s the right course. If you are unsure, contact your module co-ordinator.

 

 

Contact details for staff

In the Module handbook

You should find contact details for your module lecturers in the module handbook. On the front page will be contact details for the module co-ordinator.

In the Module Overview and Communication section, additional information about communication with members of staff can be found.

 

Within the Blackboard learning environment

Within the Blackboard learning environment, you can message staff members directly.

In your module’s content view, at the side of Course Content, there is a list of Course Staff . You can click on the envelope symbol to open messages and contact the staff member.

Assignment details

You can find out about your assignments in a number of ways, via the module handbook or Assessment and Feedback folder in Content view or using Gradebook view.

Access your Module handbook in Content view and go to the Assessment and feedback section.
