Single Sign On Conflicts
Ulster University uses Microsoft Single Sign On (SSO) for authentication and this standard is also used by many individuals and organisations in different contexts.
Single Sign On is designed to offer seamless login to systems within one organisation but rarely multiple organisations. If you try to access an Ulster system with a non Ulster email address you will get an error message stating that your external SSO account cannot access this system.
If you are using a device which is already authenticated in to a Micosoft account, a common occurence in the modern workplace, a simple way to keep identities separate is to use another browser that you do not commonly use. For example if you use Microsoft Edge for work, download and install Google Chrome.
Please note, many workplaces prevent you from installing a separate browser. You may however have access to an Incognito or Private Browsing Window which give you a web browser session without any authentication.
You may also be able to select the option below your work account to Use another account and access using your Ulster credentials.
