Uploading a video/ video presentation to Blackboard

Always use Panopto to submit a video assignment in Blackboard. This guide will show you how to upload a video to a Blackboard assignment dropbox using the Panopto Student Submission tool.

Your video appears  in the submission box and you should click on Submit

 

 

Exporting your video for upload to Panopto

Check the format and size! Your file needs to be exported as a movie format e.g. mp4, .mov, .mpeg etc. See suitable file formats to be accepted in Panopto.

Make sure your file is less than 5GB. Keep your file size to around 50MB to 100MB per minute. If your file is too big, use compression software like Handbrake, see File size and compression for more info.

 

Saving a video presentation

If you’re uploading a presentation with audio you need to export your Presentation files as a movie file such as presentation.mp4.

  1. Open your file in Powerpoint, click on File in the top menu and select Export.

  1. Then select MP4 from the File format dropdown selection

  1. Then select HD (720p or 1080p) and click on Export.

Your Powerpoint will have exported as a .mp4.

 

 

Submitting your video with Panopto student submission

  1. Click on the name of the assignment drop box (with the list icon beside it).

  2. Click on View Instructions /Start attempt button.

  3. Click in the submission box to reveal the tool bar. Click on the + icon and select Content Market from the drop down menu

  4. You can then select Panopto Student Submission

This will open the Panopto interface …

If you are asked to login at this stage, your browser may be blocking cross-site tracking (third-party cookies) see our Panopto sign-in issues guide for more information.

  1. … select the Upload tab, you can then drag and drop your video onto the interface or click on ‘Choose video or audio file’ and navigate to your saved video file.

  1. Once your video has fully uploaded (but still processing) click on the Insert button to begin submitting your video.

  1. Check or change the display name of the video and click Insert.

  1. Your video appears then in the submission box and you should click on Submit, to submit your video assignment.

  1. You will be given final message if it’s your final attempt for submission, select Submit.

You will then get a chance to download your digital receipt.
