In August of 2022, Blackboard Learn will begin to use the Ultra Base Navigation (UBN). This will update the appearance of Blackboard Learn . This update and is a stepping stone towards - a move to - Blackboard Learn Ultra. It does not significantly change module areas, module navigation, tools or workflows - all of which will continue to work as before. There will be some - small - design changes to improve the usability and responsiveness of the system, particularly on mobile devices.

Note: The purple X, used to close the overlay, is in a similar location to the icon that was button used to add content and items in to the left hand navigation - in our current version of Blackboard Learn. This It can be frustrating when you are first using Ultra Base Navigation and it can to select the close button by mistake, so it may be helpful to know where the new icon to add navigation elements iscan be found. The new icon is highlighted below.:


Personal Profile

The new profile page allows you to upload a photograph, clarify the pronunciation of your name through phonetic spelling and edit your Global Notification Settings (the e-mails and updates you receive from Blackboard Learn).

The Activity Stream is the default landing page when you first login to Blackboard Learn. The Activity Stream will notify you of relevant information from across your modules, related to your role. As an Instructor in a module you will see announcements, notifications and some new features related to how your students are engaging with your module areas. Upcoming events from your personal Blackboard Learn calendar will also be displayed.

Note: For important notifications and communications, it is advisable to continue to check your student staff email and Blackboard Learn modules.

A new feature, for instructors, is the identification of students who show patterns of engagement that may need further investigation. These students will be identified in the Activity Stream with . a text link stating how many students are falling behind.
