Note
New students will not receive an individual Athens username and password (for accessing the library online). The University now receives a block login from Athens. Consequently only registered students will be able to access Library facilities from within Blackboard or the Portal.

Your Blackboard Learn password is also your Network password (sometimes referred to as your Active Directory or AD password). This is the same password your use to login to a computer in a computer lab, if you attend campus. You can use the Self Service Banner system to retrieve your network and e-mail passwords.

The same network password authenticates for access to Blackboard and the Portal. Therefore, if you are unable to log into the Portal you will be unable to log into Blackboard.

In order to check your credentials you will need to login to Banner Self Service.

  1. Go to:http https://ssbsrssb.ulster.ac.uk/PROD/twbkwbis.P_GenMenu?name=bmenu.P_GenMnu
  2. Select the link "LOGIN TO STUDENT AND FACULTY SELF SERVICE"

  3. Input your User ID and PIN
    1. If you are a student, your User ID is your student B number and your initial PIN is your date of birth in the format DDMMYY.
    2. If you are a member of staff, enter your staff number as a 9 character number ( the number should be padded out with leading zeros after the E if required i.e E00012345 ) and your PIN is your date of birth in the format DDMMYY.
  4. Select the Login button.

  5. Select the "Personal Information" tab.
  6. Select the "View Student ID, Password and Email Address" link.

  7. You can now access your:
    1. Student ID.
    2. Network Login.
    3. Network Password.
    4. E-mail Address.
    5. E-mail Password.
    6. Athens Username.
      7. Athens Password.

Note: Athens now uses a block authentication, so the Athens username and password shown on this screen is no longer valid. Network and Blackboard Learn passwords are case sensitive. Your password is the same for Blackboard Learn and Portal sign-in.
