Student Preview lets you view your module from a student’s perspective. It is particularly useful for testing interactive features (Assignments, Tests, Discussions) and verifying item availability.

Entering student preview adds a test student to your module. You can use this test student to post to discussions, experience the module site content and submit attempts as a student.

Turn on Student Preview

  1. At the top left of your module page, click Student Preview

  2. In the dialog window, click Start Preview

  3. A banner appears at the top of the screen to indicate that you are in Student Preview mode.

Exiting Student Preview

  1. In the top banner, click Exit

  2. Discard or keep the date you have created as a test student

  1. By choosing Save, the data you have created as a student preview user will persist. For example, if you have submitted an assignment, you can mark the submission.

Student Preview is a valuable tool to ensure that everything you intend to be visible is as it should be, and to test workflows such submissions, marking, tests and Gradebook calculations.
